Dr Julia Lindley-Baker
Dr Julia Lindley-Baker has extensive experience of Special Educational Needs & Disability, both nationally and internationally. Having originally trained as a special needs teacher with a focus upon the primary age range, she has taught and held senior leadership positions in a range of different settings, always with a special education focus. Julia now coordinates and teaches on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Special Educational Needs Disability and Inclusion(SENDI) at Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln. She has held positions on local and national advisory boards exploring and promoting SEND practice. Alongside her current H.E. role, Julia is a Trustee for a MAT, a primary school governor and is engaged with consultancy work in relation to SEND reviews. Julia’s interests include the sociology and history of special needs, pedagogy of special needs and the diverse nature of inclusive practice. She has led and presented research in relation to SEND practice and is looking forward to her forthcoming book on teaching complex needs being published later this year. She also has experience of delivering inset and CPD for teachers and teaching assistants having delivered training locally, nationally and internationally. She is recognised as a senior fellow by the higher education academy (SFHEA).
