During this session we’ll be exploring examples of best practice from research and from schools across the UK teaching phonics using ELS. You’ll come away practical steps that you can apply in your school and classroom, including how to:
- create a supported and encouraging environment where every child can participate in phonics learning
- put the ELS principle of ‘keep up, not catch up’ into action
- recognise signs that a child may need additional help keeping up with phonics lessons, and implement successful interventions
- feel confident adapting your resources to help every child access the same learning outcomes
- use the built-in SEN resources of ELS, which are proven to have impact on reading confidence
- consolidate reading skills with Fluency practice and with support for struggling readers in KS2
