Using the book 'C.I. Quest' to learn and practice positional vocabulary
Flashcards have their place, but using books alongside can reap great rewards! Books are such a great way to engage children in language learning, and can be used in support of speech and language therapy and Auditory Verbal therapy, as well as reinforcing home and classroom learning.
Take ‘C.I. Quest’, for example, written not only to provide mirrors and windows for deaf children and their friends, but also to support young children learning and practicing positional vocabulary. The story revolves around finding a pair of lost cochlear implant processors, offering plenty of opportunities to describe where things are - or in this case, guessing where they might be!
