Empower ADHD

Empower ADHD provides strengths-based ADHD coaching, training and education designed to help students with ADHD and neurodiversity understand how their brains work, develop practical strategies and thrive throughout education and beyond.

Our approach starts with a simple principle: when we look at challenges through the ADHD lens, we can stop expecting students to work harder within systems that may not work for their brains and instead help them discover strategies, structures and support that enable them to succeed.

This is particularly important in higher education. The transition to university can represent a significant “cliff edge” for students with ADHD. The structure, accountability and predictability of school are suddenly replaced by greater independence, competing demands and responsibility for managing their own time. Executive dysfunction, time blindness, procrastination, overwhelm and Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) can quickly affect academic performance, wellbeing and confidence.

Empower ADHD works with education providers to move beyond simply providing reasonable adjustments towards creating sustainable student success.

In partnership with Wrexham University, we have developed an innovative online coaching programme for university students with ADHD and neurodiversity, designed to connect with the University’s own Disability Support Services platform.

The programme brings ADHD coaching principles and practical, ADHD-friendly strategies directly to students, helping them understand their ADHD, navigate university life, manage their time and studies, build confidence and self-advocacy, protect their wellbeing and develop strategies they can continue using beyond university.

Our approach recognises that ADHDers often know what they need to do but experience difficulties consistently implementing what they know. We therefore focus on making strategies Visible, Accessible and Tangible - our "VAT" approach - while encouraging students to identify and work with their individual strengths and processing styles. We encourage students to experiment and discover what works for their own brain.

Crucially, sustainable change also requires the people supporting neurodivergent students to understand the ADHD lens. Alongside student programmes, Empower ADHD provides training and resources for university and education staff, helping them recognise executive function challenges and early warning signs, understand RSD and respond in ways that promote connection, confidence and independence rather than shame.

Our goal is interdependence, not independence: ensuring students know how to access the right support while developing the self-awareness, self-advocacy and self-accountability they need for their future.

At the TES SEN Show 2026, we look forward to connecting with universities, colleges, schools and education professionals interested in creating ADHD-friendly environments where neurodivergent students are empowered not simply to survive their education, but to thrive.
