Maths For Life is a differentiated approach to teaching maths that is designed for students with additional learning needs, for whom the standard maths national curriculum structure and timescale is unattainable. It offers an evolving, accessible programme for both school and home. With age-neutral, engaging, life-based content, it prioritises and delivers the maths skills needed for life.
Maths For Life is being rolled out county-wide as part of a school-based pilot funded by Oxfordshire County Council to improve provision for students with a range of additional learning needs. OFSTED recently observed students using Maths For Life during a school inspection and were impressed with what they saw, saying of SEN provision: “For pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, staff identify and provide highly effective adaptions.”
“It was a relief to find a sequential scheme, fit for purpose… Our TAs welcomed ‘Maths For Life’… It has become a fully embedded scheme for the past two years.” - Laura Craig, Deputy Head, John Hampden School
