Student perceptions of barriers to their learning. An authentic workshop based on a pilot programme
Effective inclusion goes beyond SEND; it is contextual, personal and dependent on collective action to drive meaningful improvement. This session explores what is often overlooked in inclusive practice, including the centrality of student voice, the impact of intersectionality and the assumptions that can create multiple barriers for learners.
The discussion will also examine what we mean by “intervention” at both micro and macro levels, and how thoughtful approaches can shift perspectives across settings. Crucially, the session will highlight strategies to build learners’ self-efficacy and agency, enabling them to take an active role in shaping their own progress.
