Bridging the Gap Between Families and Professionals

10 Oct 2025
Leadership and management

Difficult conversations, mismatched expectations or previous bad experiences can all negatively impact working relationships with Parent/Carers.

This engaging and inspiring session with author and 'The Skies We’re Under' podcast host, Rachel Wright, uses the lived experience of families and best practice research to create actionable next steps. It focuses on transforming relationships between parents, carers and school staff to create a truly positive, inclusive and collaborative working environment.

By the end of this session you should:
• Understand the lived experience for parents of children with SEN
• Examine the relevant research on the complex landscape surrounding parent/carer and practitioner relationships.
• Connect the impact of trust, conflict and trauma on meaningful connections
• Consider the small ways practitioners can bridge the gap to build positive relationships with Parent-Carers
