Identifying and supporting students in secondary schools with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN)

11 Oct 2024
Communication and interaction

National data suggests significant under identification of SLCN in secondary schools compared to the research evidence. We might see difficulties with literacy, learning or mental health, though the underlying language needs can remain hidden and difficult to spot.
This session explores how secondary schools can identify pupils at risk of language needs, and suggests practical strategies to support pupils with SLCN in the classroom or through targeted support.
