Neurodiversity, SEND and Child Exploitation

10 Oct 2025
SEMH

In this seminar, we will explore the unique and specific needs of neurodivergent children who are being exploited, understanding their increased vulnerability around targeting, coercion and disclosure.

We will look at how current safeguarding interventions are failing to keep neurodivergent young people safe and drawing on the lived experiences of affected families and our evidence-based research, we will discuss best practice approaches to improve outcomes for affected families.

By the end of this session you should:

• Understand the experiences of exploited children who are neurodivergent
• Understand the ways trauma can be masked by neurodivergent children
• Learn some best practice approaches in supporting neurodivergent children who are at risk of exploitation
