Supporting PMLD / Complex needs in mainstream settings
This seminar will encourage consideration of the provision offered to pupils with more complex needs. We will focus on the abilities of these very special children and young people. Content will cover cognitive and communication development, barriers to learning and meeting individual needs through specialist teaching strategies. With reflection on a culture of acceptance and inclusion, that encompasses attitudes and approach, delegates will have a thought provoking session.
By the end of this session you should:
• Become aware of entering the world of a child or young person
• Recognise that all children and young people are entitled to a curriculum that meets their needs, overcomes barriers to learning and ensures maximum access to a fulfilling life.
• Be able to identify appropriate learning outcomes that ensure progression.
