SEND reform is shifting the focus towards earlier intervention, greater inclusion and bringing specialist expertise closer to schools. But access to experts alone will not create lasting change. Drawing on over 20 years as a speech and language therapist, Asma explores how schools can turn specialist advice into everyday practice, build staff confidence and capability, and move from a culture of referral and waiting towards earlier, more sustainable support.
