Adrienne Nichols is Head of the AQA Unit Award Scheme (UAS) and has nearly 30 years' experience in education. Her career has spanned primary teaching, curriculum development and educational leadership, with approximately 20 years spent at AQA supporting inclusive approaches to learning and achievement.

Since becoming Head of UAS in 2010, Adrienne has led the strategic development of the scheme, overseeing its growth into a nationally recognised programme used by schools, colleges, alternative provision settings, youth services, charities, training providers and community organisations across the UK. Through her leadership, thousands of learners each year have their progress recognised through flexible, bite-sized certification that celebrates achievement beyond traditional qualifications.

A passionate advocate for inclusion, Adrienne is particularly committed to ensuring that learners with SEND, those at risk of disengagement, and individuals following non-traditional learning pathways can have their achievements recognised in meaningful ways. She works closely with educators to develop practical solutions that build confidence, support progression and motivate learners to succeed.

Adrienne is a regular speaker at national education events and is widely recognised for her expertise in learner engagement, achievement recognition and personalised learning. Drawing on extensive experience of working with diverse educational settings, she shares practical insights and real-world examples that help educators create more inclusive opportunities for all learners. Her work is driven by a simple belief: every learner deserves the opportunity to have their achievements recognised and celebrated.
