Ben Higgins
Ben joined Bild as CEO in 2016. Before joining Bild, Ben’s worked in special schools in both the UK and Australia. He went on to become a special school head, DfE (Department of Education) Specialist Leader in Education and an Ofsted inspector.
Since joining Bild in 2016, Ben has overseen the development of the Restraint Reduction Network charity which leads the restraint reduction movement across the British Isles. Ben further coordinated the growth of the Bild partnership of charities which includes Association of Certified Training, Restraint Reduction Network and most recently Respond, a leader in trauma informed practice in England.
Ben is passionate about addressing the inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities, mental health conditions and autistic people. He is committed to facilitating cultural change through promoting human rights and relational working to reduce reliance on restrictive and institutionalised models of care.
Ben holds a Masters degree in Autism from University of Birmingham. Ben also sits on a number of government boards including the Building the Right Support ministerial delivery board and NHSE Restrictive Practices Oversight Group.
