Craig Henderson
Craig, known widely as The Neurodivergent Barber, is a multi-award-winning barber and advocate based in Bolton, UK. Specialising in working with autistic and neurodivergent children and adults, Craig has created a safe and sensory-aware space where haircuts become a positive and empowering experience.
Driven by personal experience and a deep understanding of neurodivergence, Craig has developed innovative approaches to reduce fear, anxiety, and sensory overwhelm in the barbershop. His work has been recognised nationally and internationally, with widespread media coverage including features in BBC News, ITV, Metro, and The Mirror.
In 2023, Craig was honoured on The Sunday Times Alternative Honours List for his outstanding contributions to the community, particularly for his work with neurodivergent individuals and families. That same year, he received a prestigious NHS Greater Manchester Health and Care Champion Award, highlighting his role in making grooming services more inclusive and accessible.
Craig regularly delivers training and workshops for hair professionals, sharing tools to make haircuts more manageable and less distressing for children with sensory or emotional challenges. Passionate about community, Craig continues to raise awareness, influence inclusive practices across the hair industry, and champion the rights and dignity of neurodivergent people through his work and outreach.
