Elizabeth Deere started her teaching career in 2005 as a Teacher of Music. Upon completion of the Graduate Teacher Programme, she quickly found a passion for Special Educational Needs in 2006 when she started teaching a Nuture Group, and here she developed a passion for supporting students with Autism and ADHD.

Moving schools, Elizabeth took career opportunities to become the schools Transition Coordinator, taking responsibility for primary to secondary school transition for over 45 primary schools, as well as Community Events Coordinator. Throughout this time, Elizabeth excelled in teaching and supporting students with special educational needs, often achieving the greatest outcomes from the most challenging of learners. During this time, Elizabeth became a skilled practioner supporting students with Dyslexia, Global Development Delay, Anxiety and SEMH needs. In 2017, Elizabeth trained to be a SENCO, completing the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination at Nottingham Trent University.

A working SENCO, Elizabeth honed the skills to support students to achieve their potential, including those with visual and complex medical needs, provided training to all staff and worked hard to challenge leaders to embed SEND into the ethos of the setting in which she worked. Additionally, she completed qualifications in safeguarding and Understanding Young Peoples Mental Health. Leaving the classroom behind in 2023, Elizabeth is now a specialist teacher/tutor working with SENsational Tutors and a SEND Education Pathway Officer for the Local Authority.
