Emma Balchin is Chief Executive of the National Governance Association (NGA). With more than 25 years’ experience in education, leadership and school improvement, she began her career as an English teacher with a SEND specialism in mainstream schools. Her introduction to governance came when she chaired a federated board serving alternative provision and SEMH, a role she held for many years. She now leads NGA, supporting and strengthening school and trust governance.
