Emma Steel
Emma worked as a teacher in Special Educational Needs for over seventeen years, and it was whilst teaching that she developed a passion for making books accessible to those with varied Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
After leaving her career in teaching, Emma moved into publishing. She has worked to create the award-winning Every Cherry, which publishes accessible books for people with disabilities and people who find reading a challenge.
Emma is now Head of Every Cherry, where she’s striving to make engaging books that people with disabilities can read and enjoy, and is also the author of our groundbreaking Stories for Your Senses range.
Emma is now a key face in publishing, advocating for inclusion, accessibility and empowerment in reading. She leads webinars, training sessions and workshops across the country and won the People in Publishing Award - 2024, which recognises her efforts to ensure every child has a book to read, despite disability.
