Francisco de la Morar
Francisco de la Mora has been working as a scriptwriter and illustrator since 2009, contributing to various print and digital publications. In SelfMadeHero, the award winner publisher, he has published the graphic novels on the life of Mexican painters Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo and since January 2018, he has been creating a monthly illustration for The Hackney Citizen newspaper, in North London. He is also the founder of Symbola Comics, a creative editorial space established in 2018. This initiative aims to develop communication solutions for academics and institutions through graphic medicine-focused comics. Francisco holds a Master’s degree in Cultural and Creative Industries from King’s College, London, where he completed a thesis titled “Journalism and Sequential Art: Analysing the Roles on Ethics and Aesthetics in Joe Sacco’s Palestine.” This academic experience was preceded by a Bachelor’s degree in Latin American Literature from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico. Additionally, he pursued studies in Design and Visual Communication at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas, UNAM.
He is a father of a son with PVL and illustrator of The Most Amazing Saturday Morning Rubbish Club, a graphic novel slated for publication by Self-Made Hero in 2025.
