Jo is a specialist adviser in Ofsted’s central SEND and alternative provision policy team. She leads area SEND inspections, and inspections of specialist settings.

Prior to joining Ofsted, Jo’s background was in all-through special schools, including for pupils with autism, severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties. Jo held a range of  range of leadership roles including middle and senior leadership, headship and executive school leadership in specialist settings.

In her earlier career she was a teacher in mainstream primary schools as well as a music subject teacher in secondary.

Jo has an MA in Education and a particular interest in communication development and SEND.
