Julia Clouter is Director of Education Strategy and Policy at Empowering Tech, an assistive technology company committed to inclusion. With over 25 years’ experience in education as a teacher, SENCo, dyslexia specialist, and training provider, she brings both deep expertise and practical insight to her work.
 

Julia’s lived experience of dyslexia and dyscalculia underpins her commitment to inclusive practice and meaningful, evidence-informed support. Since joining Scanning Pens in 2019, she has worked internationally to champion assistive technology that builds confidence, independence, and long-term outcomes for neurodiverse learners.
 

She is a regular conference speaker, contributes to research in literacy and assistive technology, and works across schools, workplaces, and community settings. Julia is also an ambassador for Succeed with Dyslexia, an author, and a contributor to national guidance on assistive technology.
