Katie Greenwood
Katie Greenwood is a Dramatherapist, EMDR Therapist, Sensorimotor Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor, and Trainer with over 20 years of experience supporting adults, children, and young people with complex emotional and mental health needs. She has worked across various settings, including schools, Pupil Referral Units, prisons, Young Offender Institutions, and secure mental health hospitals.
Katie worked in Forensic Mental Health as a Lead Dramatherapist, within both secure hospitals and prison-based therapeutic communities. Prior to training as a therapist, she worked as an actor and facilitator with Geese Theatre UK, using applied theatre approaches within prisons and forensic settings. She has also worked as a guest lecturer and reflective practice facilitator at the University of Birmingham, and as a guest lecturer at the Universities of Nottingham and Leicester.
Katie is now the Head of Therapeutic Services at Thrive Education Partnership, a multi-academy trust specialising in SEND. In this role, she leads the trust’s strategic approach to mental health and wellbeing, supporting schools to embed relational, trauma-informed, and psychologically grounded practice. She is also a Partner Assessor for the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Katie’s work is grounded in trauma-informed and relational practice, with a strong emphasis on the healing potential of creativity, play, and embodied experience to support emotional safety, regulation, and belonging. She is currently completing her PhD, which focuses on working with trauma-related dissociation.
