Lorena Almeida
Lorena is a HCPC registered clinical and counselling psychologist with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. She has worked across diverse multicultural and multilingual settings, having supported young people, adults, and families through a wide range of life experiences, behavioural changes and understanding, across to more complex emotional challenges.
15 years of work in the National Deaf CAMHS service have led to close collaboration developing individual plans for children and young people in the education setting. In her wider role across the NHS and independent settings, Lorena delivers webinars for caregivers, alongside individual psychoeducation and therapeutic interventions with young people and their families, as well as adults.
The integrative approach Lorena draws from, encompasses a range of evidence-based models, including Systemic Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Non-violent resistance therapy (NVR) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), to support the development of awareness and strategies that a young person, adult and caregivers can rely on to navigate different ways of processing their experiences. This also incorporates mindfulness, self-care, emotion regulation and other well-being techniques to support holistic and empowering care.
