Maria is an accomplished education leader with over 17 years of senior leadership experience, specialising in supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Maria spearheaded a transformative restraint reduction programme rooted in child-centred, restorative practices – emphasising the importance of calm, consistent adult behaviours and the understanding that all behaviours are a form of communication.

Since January 2020, Maria has served as the International Director of Training at the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), where she continues to advocate for restraint reduction and best practices in supporting distressed behaviour.
