Founder/Director, Born at the Right Time Ltd

Rachel is the Founder/Director of Born at the Right Time, an organisation with a vision to improve the lives of those with SEN and their families. She is a qualified nurse and the parent of one son who has complex neurodisability and others who are neurodiverse. She’s the author of two books including her memoir The Skies I’m Under, an award-winning blogger and the host of the popular The Skies We’re Under Podcast.

As leader of Born at the Right Time she uses her skills and lived experience to support families, educate practitioners and influence policy makers and providers. She has spoken in Parliament, International Conferences and a host of grass-roots organisations.

Rachel delivers CPD-certified training on communication and effective collaboration to delegates around the world across health, social care and SEND. She’s passionate about lived experience being at the heart of meaningful change using evidence and actionable next steps.

She was a finalist for the Commitment to Carers award category of the RCNi Nurse Awards 2020 and National Learning Disability & Autism Awards 2022 (Trainer). Her course on “Communication and Co-production” was finalist in HSJ Best Educational Programme for the NHS 2023. She recently advised the National Clinical Programme for People with Disability in Ireland.
