Reshmi Copperthwaite
Reshmi Copperthwaite is an experienced education professional dedicated to improving inclusion and outcomes for children and young people with SEND. As Programme Lead at the Council for Disabled Children (CDC), she oversees national projects that help schools embed inclusive practices and strengthen pupils' sense of belonging.
Reshmi leads the Belonging Matters Programme, working directly with schools to develop whole-school strategies where pupils with SEND feel respected, included, supported, and connected. With first-hand experience as a practitioner, she has worked in mainstream and specialist settings to design inclusive interventions, workforce development, and whole-school approaches. She has also worked closely with school leaders, supporting them to implement policies and practices that improve SEND inclusion.
With expertise in policy, training, and multi-agency working, Reshmi specialises in turning research and legislation into practical strategies for schools. She has worked extensively across education, local authorities, and health services, equipping staff with the knowledge and tools to create environments where every child can thrive.
